There are many kinds of goals, but for you, the most important one is discovery. And that means not setting the goal itself, but simply deciding you are on a journey during which, every week, every day, or as often as possible, you will encounter something new, something inspiring, and something that reassures you that you are on the right path.
Certain places and people bring me joy, and so I stick with them. But others might, too
You are always ready to explore and try new things. In fact, there is a part of you that rather enjoys doing something that isn’t just a bit of an experiment but that will, in some way, change the world. It may be modest; in fact, it may be your very private experiment. You may have fantasies about it leading to exciting things.
Yet there is another part of you that enjoys having a routine. It’s familiar, and as an air sign and somebody who is easily distracted, knowing what is next grounds you. During times of transition, it is essential that you give yourself what might be termed elbow room: a chance to alter that routine, or perhaps even create a new one.
In doing so, that will reprogram the way you use your mind and your brain, and allow you to think about those goals and activities in a new way as well. This is probably the reverse of your thinking. You feel that if you can stick to the same routine at home, say in the morning, or when you go to bed, then you can venture out further. But actually it is the opposite. This is one of the greatest skills for you, to learn not only to play games with your mind, but to train your mind as if you were taking it to a gym, to exercise it and to work with new ideas. Do that regularly, and you will be amazed by how much fun you have.
Don’t be surprised if those around you are suddenly asking you a lot of questions, or perhaps even referring to you as someone who is guiding them. This isn’t necessarily what you set yourself up to be. But the fact is you are often more observant and closer to the trends that need to change than others, and your guidance will indeed be helpful for them.
There is a phrase that is important for you to edit from your thinking and your habits: “I always need to.” Whether it’s what you eat or what you do, this is what might be termed an addiction. And even if it is a healthy addiction, exercising in a certain way, or eating in certain foods, at this point in your life, flexibility is more important than habits.
There are many kinds of goals, but for you, the most important one is discovery. And that means not setting the goal itself, but simply deciding you are on a journey during which, every week, every day, or as often as possible, you will encounter something new, something inspiring, and something that reassures you that you are on the right path.
Unsettling as sudden changes may be, what’s coming your way now and over the coming weeks isn’t just exciting. Those events could be the answer to persistent problems. However, they won’t seem that promising when they arise. Make a point of exploring everything. You’ll be surprised what works out.
Aquarius: JANUARY 20 – FEBRUARY 18
Ruler: Uranus
Symbol: The Water Bearer
Element: Air
Flower: Orchid
One of the few human zodiac symbols, Aquarius is the water bearer, the third of the clever air signs. While ruled by Saturn for most of history, when the first planet to be discovered in modern times, Uranus, was spotted in 1781, you acquired a new, edgy ruler. Your flower is an orchid, your spice is chili, and your tree is all those bearing fruit. Not surprisingly, your stone is the aquamarine.
