Achieving what you have in mind is one kind of challenge. Another, more difficult one is actually recognizing that certain goals just aren’t going to work—then letting go of them. Doing that takes courage, but also it frees space in your mind, in your calendar, and possibly in your heart.
Self-discipline isn’t about limiting indulgences, it’s about selecting the best of them
Occasionally, it’s useful to look at those who drift from one plan to another, who seem directionless in a way that bothers you, but who also seem happy. What’s more, their lives are functioning smoothly and successfully.
While their approach to life intrigues you, it is also puzzling because it differs from your own more focused way of thinking. As a Capricorn, generally, you will set a goal, carefully organize a plan to achieve it, then stick to it. Yet there is something to be learned from others’ more casual approach to life and to achieving goals. This is especially important if you have been struggling with certain plans that seem to be going nowhere.
The trick is to view planning as if it were breathing, which you do naturally—unthinkingly. If you’re breathing heavily but, for example, not climbing a steep hill, then it’s important to ask a few questions. It is the same with plans. If they aren’t working out, it is time to pause and consider whether they’d ever work out, or whether you should put your time, energy, and, in some cases, heart into exploring others. An initial review is a good start. You may spot a fresh approach, or you may immediately realize you have better options, possibly right there, awaiting your attention—plans that would be far better, far more rewarding, and far more fun to achieve.
Compromise is a difficult thing for a Capricorn who is settled on a goal or made a plan, whatever it is. However, once you recognize that there are moments when letting go of what you have organized and considering others is wise, you will not only do it, but you will be excited to find out what you discover in the process.
While it’s important to take care of yourself, everyone agrees it is also important to do what might be termed spoiling yourself. Every once in a while, it is essential that you have an indulgent date, and with people who will be happy to join you in a little joyous excess.

It would be easy to assume that others’ lack of irritation with current shake-ups means they don’t care about these, or the disruption they’re causing. Actually this means a lot to them. It’s just that they’re not nearly as expressive as you are about those feelings of frustration, but they definitely do care.
Capricorn: DECEMBER 21 – JANUARY 19
Ruler: Saturn
Symbol: The Goat
Element: Earth
Flower: Pansy
As a practical earth sign, whose symbol is the horned goat, you can achieve the impossible, in the form of ascending a mountain, or attaining an ambition. Being ruled by hardy Saturn, you’re discreet about your many kindnesses, but glory in your tough exterior. Your flower is the pansy; your plants are hemp and ivy; your trees, elm and yew. Your stones are symbolic of winter’s dark days—black pearls, black diamonds, and jet.
